Sea Freight Import Team Leader – Hannover
Our client, a well-established midsized freight forwarder based in Hannover, is seeking an experienced Sea Freight Import Team Leader to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional with strong leadership skills to take the next step in their career and drive operational excellence in sea freight imports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the sea freight import team, ensuring efficient workflow and high service standards.
- Oversee the end-to-end import process, from booking shipments to final delivery, ensuring compliance with international regulations and company procedures.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, shipping lines, and customs authorities, maintaining strong relationships and resolving any escalations.
- Monitor and optimize operational performance, identifying areas for process improvement and implementing best practices.
- Provide coaching, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills and professional development.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including sales, customs brokerage, and finance, to ensure seamless coordination of shipments.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely submission of customs declarations and import paperwork.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and market developments to keep the company competitive and compliant.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in sea freight imports within a freight forwarding environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a customer-oriented mindset.
- Export experience and background is desirable but not essential
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
