A mid-size international freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) to lead its Houston brokerage operations. This role offers full responsibility for compliance, entry oversight, and client support in one of the busiest U.S. gateways for international trade.

The Opportunity
As the Licensed Customs Broker, you will act as the company’s Broker of Record, overseeing all import activities, supervising entry writers, and ensuring compliance with CBP regulations, PGA requirements, and trade programs. You will partner closely with clients across industries including oil & gas, chemicals, industrial projects, automotive, and consumer goods, making this a high-impact leadership opportunity within the Houston market.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the company’s Licensed Customs Broker of Record, signing entries and ensuring regulatory compliance

• Oversee classification, entry writing, and clearance processes including HTSUS classification, ISF filings, ABI entries, and CF28/CF29 responses

• Communicate directly with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, and other PGAs to resolve clearance issues

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of customs entry writers and compliance staff

• Support clients with guidance on Incoterms, duty drawback, Section 321, USMCA, and CTPAT

• Conduct internal compliance audits and provide training across the organization

What You Bring

• Active Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) license

• 5+ years of experience in customs brokerage and import compliance

• Strong knowledge of HTS classification, PGA requirements, and CBP procedures

• Proficiency in CargoWise, Descartes, or similar brokerage platforms

• Experience managing and developing customs staff

• Excellent client-facing communication and problem-solving skills
