Customs Entry Writer – Dallas, TX

A growing international freight forwarder and customs brokerage is seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join its Dallas team. This is a high-impact role where your expertise in tariff classification, entry filing, and U.S. Customs compliance will ensure smooth, on-time clearances for import clients across diverse industries.

The Opportunity
As Customs Entry Writer, you will handle the full spectrum of import customs clearance activities, from HTS classification and ABI entry filing to coordination with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGA). You’ll work closely with clients moving shipments across Transpacific, Transatlantic, and Latin American trade lanes, covering commodities such as consumer goods, chemicals, automotive, pharma, and electronics.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file customs entries via ACE Portal and ABI systems

• Classify commodities using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS)

• Manage CF28/CF29 responses, binding rulings, and compliance documentation

• Coordinate with CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, and other PGAs for timely clearance

• Communicate with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth customs release

• Maintain compliance with CTPAT, ISF filing, and duty drawback processes

What You Bring

• 2+ years of experience in customs entry writing or import brokerage

• Knowledge of HTS classification, Incoterms, and U.S. import regulations

• Proficiency with CargoWise, Descartes, Magaya, or similar systems

• Familiarity with FDA, USDA, and PGA clearance procedures

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle high-volume entries

• (Preferred but not required) Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or interest in sitting for the exam
