Director of HR - Freight Fowarding (Mandarin Speaking)

 

Location: Remote

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

Role Overview:

 

The Director of HR will play a pivotal role in driving HR strategy to support the operational excellence and continued growth of a leading global freight forwarding company. This role is responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives, ensuring the attraction, development, and retention of top talent in the Air & Ocean, Road Transport, and Warehouse & Distribution sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the development and execution of HR strategies that align with the business objectives of freight forwarding operations, including Air & Ocean, Road, and Warehouse & Distribution logistics
  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, from talent acquisition to onboarding, focusing on the unique needs of logistics, transportation, and supply chain roles, ensuring a pipeline of high-quality talent
  • Manage employee relations across the company’s global operations, providing guidance on conflict resolution and addressing HR issues promptly and professionally
  • Develop and implement comprehensive performance management systems tailored to the needs of freight forwarding and logistics teams, ensuring alignment with KPIs, customer service standards, and operational excellence
  • Lead the design and execution of compensation and benefits strategies that support retention and employee satisfaction within a highly competitive global logistics market
  • Drive talent development programs, with a focus on leadership development, technical training (e.g., CargoWise, SAP), and succession planning for critical roles in logistics operations
  • Ensure compliance with international labor laws, health & safety regulations, and industry standards specific to freight forwarding and logistics operations
  • Partner with senior leadership on organizational design and change management initiatives, including M&As, ensuring smooth integration of HR policies and practices across geographies
  • Oversee the implementation and integration of HR technologies (CargoWise, HRIS systems) to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and support data-driven decision-making
  • Monitor HR metrics (e.g., turnover, employee engagement, time-to-hire) and report insights to senior leadership, recommending improvements to drive overall business performance
  • Develop and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives specific to the logistics and freight forwarding industry

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in HR management, with a strong background in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industries
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance regulations specific to global freight forwarding and logistics
  • Proven expertise in managing HR operations for Air & Ocean freight, road transportation, and warehousing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Experience in leading organizational change initiatives, including talent acquisition, performance management, and workforce planning for global operations
  • Strong proficiency with HR technology platforms such as CargoWise, SAP, and HRIS systems
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and stakeholders
