Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate breakbulk import shipments from arrival to final delivery, including port handling, customs clearance, and inland transport.

Liaise with carriers, stevedores, warehouse teams, and hauliers to schedule cargo unloading, storage, and distribution.

Prepare and review import documentation, including Bills of Lading, cargo manifests, packing lists, and commercial invoices.

Ensure accurate customs declarations in accordance with HMRC regulations and arrange clearance through customs brokers.

Communicate proactively with clients regarding shipment status, potential delays, and any special handling requirements.

Handle import entries for breakbulk and out-of-gauge cargo in systems such as CHIEF/CDS or via third-party customs platforms.

Maintain accurate job costing and invoicing in line with internal financial procedures.

Resolve discrepancies in cargo documentation, damage claims, and customs queries in a timely manner.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company SOPs throughout the cargo handling process.
Requirements:

Proven experience handling breakbulk or project cargo in a freight forwarding or logistics environment.

Strong knowledge of UK import procedures, including customs clearance, port operations, and HMRC compliance.

Familiarity with CHIEF, CDS, or relevant customs clearance software.

Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

Ability to problem-solve in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with freight software (e.g. CargoWise, ASM Sequoia) is a plus.
