Position Summary
The Business Development Manager – LTL will proactively develop and execute growth strategies for our Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) services in the western United States, with a specific focus on the Las Vegas market and surrounding region. The post-holder will identify new business opportunities, cultivate relationships with shippers and brokers, collaborate with operations and pricing teams, and secure commercial contracts that align with our profitability targets and service standards.
Key Responsibilities

Generate and qualify new business leads for LTL services (domestic freight, consolidation, regional less-than-truckload).

Develop and present value propositions to prospective clients, addressing their pain points (cost, transit time, reliability, service flexibility).

Negotiate rates, terms and service agreements in alignment with company commercial policy and the approval matrix.

Collaborate with pricing, operations, and account management teams to ensure feasibility of proposed solutions, margin integrity and service delivery.

Build and manage a robust sales pipeline; track and report on key metrics (leads, opportunities, won business, revenue, margin).

Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour in the LTL segment; recommend strategic or tactical actions.

Maintain accurate CRM records, forecast revenue monthly/quarterly, and present to senior commercial leadership.

Provide support during onboarding of new clients; ensure operational handover is seamless and client expectations managed.

Represent the organisation at industry events, trade shows, logistics forums and networking opportunities relevant to shippers, brokers and carriers.

Maintain full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements (transportation, freight forwarding, carrier contracting) and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience in domestic freight, logistics, less-than-truckload (LTL) or third-party logistics (3PL) environment. CS Recruiting+1

Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and winning new business in LTL or regional freight services.

Strong commercial acumen: ability to analyse cost structures, margin impact, and service trade-offs.

Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage complex sales cycles.

Experience collaborating with operations, pricing and commercial teams to structure viable freight solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to senior executives and key decision-makers.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent experience preferred.

Ability to travel regionally as required (client meetings, trade shows).
Preferred Qualifications

Existing book of business in LTL/shipping accounts in western United States (Nevada, Arizona, California).

Knowledge of carrier networks, rate benchmarking, consolidation strategies and service optimisation in LTL segments.

Familiarity with pricing negotiation for multi-leg, hub-and-spoke LTL services, and understanding of cost drivers (fuel, accessorials, density).

Understanding of compliance/regulatory issues affecting trucking/LTL services (for example, freight claims, carrier contract terms, liability).
