Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding (USA)
Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth across Air, Ocean, and Domestic transportation services within the United States. This position focuses on new customer acquisition, strategic account expansion, and developing long-term relationships that align with company objectives and profit targets.
Key Responsibilities

Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities in Air, Ocean, and Domestic freight markets through direct sales and networking.

Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve defined revenue and gross profit targets.

Manage the full sales cycle including prospecting, proposal development, pricing coordination, contract negotiation, and post-sale handover to operations.

Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Pricing, and Management) to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Maintain and expand a portfolio of key accounts while increasing share of wallet with existing clients.

Monitor industry trends, trade lane developments, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.

Prepare monthly sales forecasts, activity reports, and pipeline updates using CRM tools (CargoWise, Salesforce, or equivalent).

Represent the company at trade shows, customer visits, and industry events to strengthen brand visibility and market presence.
Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of proven sales experience within international freight forwarding or logistics.

Strong knowledge of Air and Ocean import/export processes, pricing structures, and Incoterms.

Demonstrated ability to develop and close new business with measurable revenue contribution.

Established customer network across key trade lanes (Transpacific, Transatlantic, or Latin America preferred).

Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems; CargoWise experience highly desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
