Summary
This position is responsible for managing the estimating team and workflows to ensure bids and pricing inquiries are responded to promptly, competitively, and professionally.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist and guide the team in completing bids by accurately identifying and quantifying cost factors, including transport, materials handling, inspection, storage, and labor expenses.
- Help the team identify the scope of work, schedules, and other technical documents to prepare estimates.
- Foster relationships with subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Recommend solutions to improve cost reductions and/or profitability.
- Ensure correct processes and procedures are followed.
- Maintain a database of historical and current pricing.
- Ensure that Cargowise is used for spot bids.
- Monitor and update the quote register regularly.
- Assist in preparing bids and estimates.
- Track win/loss ratios and maintain records in Cargowise and the quote register.
- Promote a culture of health and safety and participate in safety reviews and meetings.
- Create a positive working environment that encourages free thinking, hard work, and milestone delivery.
Educational Background / Work Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is required.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in estimating.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
