Company Overview: Altius Talent is partnering with an established freight forwarding company in the Valley Stream, NY area to identify an experienced Air Export Operator to join their growing team.
Position Overview: The Air Export Operator will be responsible for managing the end-to-end air export process, coordinating with carriers, clients, and overseas partners to ensure timely and compliant shipments. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented logistics professional with strong air freight operations experience; candidates with prior ocean export exposure are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage air export shipments from booking through delivery
- Prepare and process export documentation (AWBs, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.)
- Book cargo space with airlines and negotiate rates as needed
- Ensure compliance with export regulations, including AES filing and IATA/TSA requirements
- Communicate with clients, overseas agents, and carriers to track shipment status and resolve issues
- Maintain accurate records within the company's operating system
- Monitor shipments for on-time performance and proactively flag delays or exceptions
- Collaborate with pricing and customer service teams to support client needs
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in air export operations within freight forwarding
- Working knowledge of AES filing, IATA regulations, and export documentation
- Experience with a freight forwarding operating system (e.g., Cargowise, Magaya, or similar)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior ocean export experience is a plus, though not required
