Position: Station Manager
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Long Beach Airport / LAX Area)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Station Manager to lead and develop our Los Angeles operation, overseeing all aspects of international freight forwarding. This role is responsible for operational performance, customer satisfaction, commercial growth, financial management, and team leadership across air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, and domestic transportation.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong operational expertise, proven people management experience, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of the Los Angeles station.
- Oversee Air Import, Air Export, Ocean Import, Ocean Export, Customs Brokerage, Warehousing, and Domestic Transportation operations.
- Manage and develop department managers and operational teams to achieve service and productivity targets.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, TSA requirements, FMC regulations, and all company policies.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive account management and operational execution.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, profitability, and service quality.
- Manage station P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Monitor KPIs including shipment performance, profitability, productivity, and customer service metrics.
- Support business development by working alongside the commercial team on strategic accounts and customer retention.
- Build strong relationships with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking companies, warehouses, customs authorities, and other key partners.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop staff while creating a high-performance culture.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational functions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of international freight forwarding experience.
- Previous leadership experience managing a freight forwarding branch or station.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Air Freight
- Ocean Freight
- Import & Export Operations
- Customs Brokerage
- Domestic Transportation
- Warehousing & Distribution
- Experience managing operational budgets and P&L.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to support business growth.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary operational teams.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills.
- Strong understanding of CargoWise or similar freight forwarding systems.
- Knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Customs Broker preferred but not essential.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related discipline.
- Existing relationships with carriers and logistics providers in the Southern California market.
