Air & Ocean Import Operators – Detroit, MI

A growing global freight forwarder is expanding its Detroit operation and is looking to add experienced Air & Ocean Import Operators to its team.

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have experience handling Air Imports, Ocean Imports, or both within international freight forwarding.

You do not need experience across both modes. If your background is specifically Air Imports or Ocean Imports, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

The Role

Depending on your experience, you will be responsible for coordinating international import shipments from pre-alert through to final delivery and billing.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing Air and/or Ocean Import shipments
• Handling import files from pre-alert through to final delivery
• Coordinating with airlines, steamship lines, truckers, overseas agents and internal teams
• Reviewing import documentation and ensuring shipment information is accurate
• Tracking shipments and providing proactive updates to customers
• Coordinating customs clearance and final-mile delivery
• Managing operational issues, delays and documentation discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate shipment files and completing billing
• Ensuring shipments are handled in line with internal SOPs and compliance requirements
• Providing a high level of customer service throughout the import process

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience within international freight forwarding
• Experience handling Air Imports, Ocean Imports, or both
• Strong understanding of international import operations
• Ability to manage shipments independently
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Good attention to detail and organisation
• Ability to work within a fast-paced forwarding environment
• CargoWise experience is highly advantageous
