Senior Business Development Manager / International Freight Forwarding – Houston, TX
$100,000 – $135,000 Base + Uncapped Commission
ABOUT
Our client is an established international freight forwarder with a strong presence across the U.S. market and a global network spanning key trade lanes in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. With a full suite of ocean, air, and customs brokerage solutions, they work with clients across a broad range of industries including energy, manufacturing, retail, and chemicals. The Houston office is a high-performing team with the infrastructure and backing to support serious commercial growth. This is a new business focused role for someone who wants autonomy, competitive earnings, and a platform that can actually close the deals they bring in.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, target, and win new freight forwarding business across ocean, air, and ancillary services.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of prospects across the Houston market and surrounding region.
- Build relationships at decision-maker level with importers, exporters, and supply chain managers.
- Work closely with operations and pricing teams to develop competitive solutions for prospective clients.
- Represent the business at industry events and maintain an active presence in the local logistics community.
- Meet and exceed agreed revenue and gross profit targets on a quarterly and annual basis.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum 3 years of freight forwarding sales experience, with a demonstrable record of winning new business.
- Strong knowledge of international ocean and air freight products and the Houston trade market.
- An existing network of shippers, BCOs, or beneficial cargo owners in the region is a significant advantage.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently without close supervision.
- Strong communicator with the ability to present solutions clearly at all levels of a client organisation.
- Experience across multiple verticals including energy, petrochemicals, or industrial cargo is preferred but not essential.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Base salary of $100,000 – $135,000 depending on experience.
