Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding


About the Role We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to join our growing team. This is a field-based, hunter-led role focused on winning new business and expanding our client base across the freight forwarding market. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, and delivering tailored freight solutions across air, ocean, and road.


Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across target verticals including importers, exporters, and beneficial cargo owners.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospects, converting leads into long-term revenue-generating accounts.
  • Develop and present tailored freight solutions including air freight, ocean freight, and domestic transportation.
  • Prepare and respond to RFQs, tenders, and rate proposals in a timely and competitive manner.
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery for new clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across the CRM at all times.
  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
  • Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly new business targets.
  • Provide regular pipeline updates and revenue forecasts to senior leadership.

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Proven track record in a new business development or field sales role within freight forwarding or international logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of air freight, ocean freight, or multimodal transportation.
  • An established network of shipper, importer, or exporter contacts.
  • Confident and credible at engaging with decision-makers at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with the ability to work independently in a field-based role.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience using CRM tools to manage pipeline and activity.
