Company Overview

Our client is a well-established international freight forwarder with a strong presence across Air and Ocean logistics. Due to continued growth within their Chicago (ORD) branch, they are looking to add an experienced Import Operator to their team.

Role Summary

This position will focus on handling Air & Ocean import shipments from start to finish (A–Z), with a strong emphasis on Ocean imports. The role requires a detail-oriented operator who can manage shipments independently, ensure compliance, and maintain high service levels across all accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle full A–Z Air & Ocean import shipments
• Strong focus on Ocean Import operations (core part of the role)
• Coordinate with overseas offices, carriers, and customers
• Manage documentation, customs clearance coordination, and delivery processes
• Track and trace shipments, providing proactive updates to clients
• Resolve issues, delays, and discrepancies efficiently
• Ensure compliance with all import regulations and company procedures
• Maintain accurate shipment records within internal systems

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of consecutive experience in Air & Ocean imports
• Minimum 5 years of consecutive experience specifically within Ocean imports
• Proven experience managing full A–Z import processes independently
• Strong knowledge of international shipping documentation and procedures
• Experience coordinating with customs brokers and carriers
• CargoWise (CW1) experience preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
