Sea Freight Import Operator – Hamburg
Altius Talent are partnering with a growing international freight forwarder who are looking to strengthen their sea freight import team in Hamburg. With their branch located in the port area, they are well placed to service a diverse portfolio of clients and are now seeking an experienced Import Operator to support their continued growth.

Altius Talent are partnering with a growing international freight forwarder who are looking to strengthen their sea freight import team in Hamburg. With their branch located in the port area, they are well placed to service a diverse portfolio of clients and are now seeking an experienced Import Operator to support their continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full operational handling of import shipments (FCL & LCL) from arrival through to delivery.
- Coordination with shipping lines, carriers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth handling of consignments.
- Customs clearance processing including import declarations and ensuring compliance with German and EU customs regulations.
- Customer service: regular communication with clients providing shipment updates, solutions, and support.
- Preparation of all necessary import documentation and ensuring accuracy in line with compliance requirements.
- Cost control, invoicing and billing to clients, agents, and third-party suppliers.
- Problem-solving & claims handling in the event of delays, damages, or disputes.
- Collaboration with colleagues across different departments to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience within sea freight imports.
- Strong knowledge of German customs procedures (ATLAS) and international trade regulations.
- Confident working with MS Office and forwarding/transport management systems.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Team player with the ability to also work independently when required.
- Fluency in German and English (spoken and written) is essential.
