Location: Düsseldorf
Team Size: 4 FTE + 1 Trainee
Salary: Up to €55,000 gross
Altius Talent are partnering with a midsized freight forwarding client who are seeking a Team Lead for Ocean Freight Import & Export in Düsseldorf. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a small, motivated team while ensuring smooth operations and strong client satisfaction.
The Team Leader will coordinate and oversee a team of ocean freight specialists ensuring the efficient execution of import and export shipments. This role is both operational and leadership-focused, requiring someone who can lead by example, provide expertise, and support the development of the team.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of 4 FTEs and 1 trainee.
- Ensure compliance with operational processes and company guidelines.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members.
- Foster a positive and performance-driven work culture.
- Oversee the coordination of ocean freight imports and exports.
- Organize and monitor shipments in collaboration with global offices.
- Negotiate and purchase transport services.
- Manage shipment documentation, administrative follow-up, and invoicing.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance.
- Address and resolve anomalies, complaints, and incidents.
- Manage weekly pre-closing and monthly closing activities.
- Ensure real-time invoicing and accurate purchase forecasting.
- Contribute to financial results and margin optimization.
- Monitor and drive performance indicators (KPIs).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Deliver end-to-end customer service before, during, and after shipments.
- Ensure service quality and compliance with commitments.
- Provide advice, solutions, and technical expertise to clients.
- Represent the company in client meetings and visits.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in ocean freight forwarding (import & export).
- Previous leadership or team coordination experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in both German & English
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Service-oriented mindset with commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Adaptability, responsiveness, and team spirit.
