Overview
An established international freight forwarding and logistics provider is seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead a small sales team while maintaining responsibility for their own business development activities.
This is a hybrid leadership and individual contributor role, offering a clear progression path into a senior commercial leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership

Lead, coach and support a team of sales professionals.

Monitor sales activity, pipeline performance and account development through the CRM.

Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, priorities and opportunities.

Accompany team members on strategic customer visits where appropriate.

Provide day-to-day guidance and support while promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Commercial Oversight

Review and approve sales-related travel and business expenses.

Ensure commercial activities align with company policies and compliance requirements.

Support planning and execution of strategic sales initiatives.
Business Development
-
Develop and grow your own portfolio of customers.

Generate new business opportunities across international freight forwarding and logistics services.

Build long-term customer relationships while achieving commercial growth targets.
Requirements
-
Proven track record in international freight forwarding business development.

Demonstrated success managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through to closing.

Previous experience leading or mentoring commercial teams.

Strong understanding of air, ocean and contract logistics solutions.

Experience working with customers in sectors such as luxury goods, fashion, furniture or other specialised industries is advantageous.

Knowledge of European trade lanes is preferred.

Understanding of warehousing, 3PL solutions and commercial service agreements.

Experience working within a business undergoing organisational change or post-acquisition integration would be beneficial.
