The Role
As an Ocean Import Specialist, you will play a key role in managing the end-to-end import process for ocean freight shipments. You will work closely with clients, carriers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant operations. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery
- Prepare and review import documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. Customs regulations
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to track and trace shipments
- Handle ISF filings, customs entries, and related documentation
- Monitor shipments and resolve any exceptions or delays
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong client relationships
- Support the wider operations team as needed
Preferred Experience & Skills
- 4+ years’ experience in ocean import operations within freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations and documentation requirements
- Customs experience is highly desirable; a Licensed Customs Broker qualification is preferred but not a deal breaker
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with industry systems and Microsoft Office
