About the Role

Altius Talent is representing a well-established and expanding freight forwarder in the Chicago O’Hare area that is seeking an Ocean Import Agent to join their operations team.

Reporting to the Branch and Operations Manager, this individual will be responsible for managing international ocean shipments from origin to final delivery, ensuring all documentation, communication, and compliance requirements are met. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on import experience who is looking to grow their career within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor international ocean import shipments from origin to destination.

• Liaise daily with carriers, service providers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate handling of shipments.

• Manage all related documentation and data entry to ensure full compliance and traceability.

• Provide exceptional customer service to clients through proactive communication and problem resolution.

• Ensure all operational deadlines and client expectations are met in line with company standards.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience handling A–Z ocean import operations within freight forwarding.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Windows-based applications.

• Experience with CargoWise is highly preferred.

• Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or International Trade is an asset.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple shipments at once.

• Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of urgency.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
