Transportation Manager

Our client, a growing freight forwarder with both asset-based and non-asset-based operations, is seeking an experienced Transportation & Logistics Manager. This role will oversee air and ocean freight operations, manage dispatch, and drive efficiency across carrier and vendor relationships. It’s a hands-on leadership opportunity for a logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day transportation operations, including air and ocean shipments.
• Manage dispatch for asset-based and non-asset-based operations.
• Support operations teams with carrier selection, rate negotiations, and spot market capacity.
• Evaluate bids, optimize cost scenarios, and recommend solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and vendors.
• Develop KPIs, scorecards, and service level agreements to monitor performance.
• Facilitate carrier QBRs and resolve vendor issues.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Provide regular reporting on spend, performance, and operational results.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business units and senior leadership.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Background in freight forwarding, transportation, or logistics management (air and ocean).
• Experience with dispatch in both asset-based and non-asset-based environments.
• Strong vendor/carrier management and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
• Track record of improving cost efficiency and service performance.
