Core Industry Expertise
- Advanced US Customs Compliance: Deep expertise in CBP regulations, HTSUS classification, ruling requests, and complex entry oversight.
- Multi-Modal Import Operations: 10+ years of comprehensive experience managing end-to-end Air & Sea freight workflows.
- PGA/OGA Governance: Advanced management of Partner Government Agency clearances (FDA, USDA, FWS, EPA, etc.).
- Systems Agility: Experience utilizing industry-standard brokerage platforms (Descartes proficiency is highly advantageous).
What You’ll Handle
- Oversee and ensure the absolute accuracy and compliance of all US Customs entries, HTS classifications, and PGA declarations for diverse air and ocean import cargo.
- Act as the ultimate point of escalation for complex regulatory issues, documentation discrepancies, and entry rejections, proactively resolving bottlenecks with CBP and PGAs.
- Maintain an up-to-date, rigorous understanding of evolving US import laws, trade agreements, and federal regulations to safeguard both the company and its clientele.
- Liaise professionally with steamship lines, airlines, federal officers, and high-value clients to facilitate swift, compliant cargo releases.
- Support the operations team by providing expert guidance on valuation, origin, and specialized entry types.
Requirements
- Licensure: Must hold a valid, active US Customs Broker License (LCB) for a minimum of 5 consecutive years with a completely clean regulatory record.
- 10+ years of overall experience within US Import Operations, specializing heavily in both Air and Sea freight forwarding environments.
- Proficiency with customs brokerage software; specific experience with Descartes is a strong asset.
- Exceptional English skills, demonstrating clear, authoritative, and precise verbal and written communication.
