Position Overview
The Key Account Specialist will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations for specifically assigned major clients, ensuring efficient coordination of all import and export shipments. The role requires a combination of operational expertise, client management, and financial accountability to maintain and grow strategic relationships while ensuring compliance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage air and ocean import/export operations for key accounts.
- Oversee shipment scheduling, delivery, and documentation to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Act as the main point of contact for assigned customers, providing proactive updates and resolving service issues.
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs, IATA, TSA, and other governing regulations.
- Manage invoicing, billing accuracy, and P&L accountability for assigned clients.
- Negotiate rates with carriers, subcontractors, and vendors to optimize profitability.
- Support key account reviews, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and overseas offices to ensure service excellence.
- Handle customer escalations with professionalism and implement corrective measures to maintain high satisfaction levels.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within freight forwarding operations or key account management.
- Solid understanding of air and ocean freight processes, import/export compliance, and documentation.
- Experience managing strategic customer relationships and meeting performance KPIs.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage financial aspects (quotations, billing, cost control).
- Proficiency with CargoWise, SAP, or similar logistics software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver results under pressure.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; relevant industry certifications advantageous.
