Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Export Manager to lead the export operations team out of the Jamaica, NY office. This role oversees the day-to-day performance of the export department, ensuring compliance, service quality, and operational efficiency, while mentoring staff and serving as an escalation point for key accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily export operations across ocean and/or air, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time execution
- Manage, train, and mentor export operators and coordinators
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex shipments and key client accounts
- Ensure adherence to AES filing, export regulations, and compliance standards
- Monitor departmental KPIs and drive process improvements
- Liaise with sales, pricing, and customs teams to support seamless service delivery
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers, agents, and overseas partners
- Review and approve export documentation as needed
- Support hiring, performance reviews, and team development
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in export operations within freight forwarding, including prior supervisory or management experience
- Strong working knowledge of AES filing and export compliance requirements
- Experience with industry systems such as CargoWise, Magaya, or similar platforms
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills, both internal and client-facing
