Entry Writer CHI

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Entry Writer for a freight forwarder in Chicago. The Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and processing import documentation to ensure timely and accurate clearance of international shipments in compliance with all U.S. Customs and partner government agency regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file customs entries for air, ocean, and ground shipments.

• Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.) for accuracy and compliance with regulations.

• Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).

• Ensure proper valuation, duty calculation, and other regulatory requirements.

• Communicate with customs brokers, carriers, government agencies, and clients to resolve entry-related issues.

• Maintain accurate and organized records of entries and documentation.

• Stay current on U.S. Customs regulations, PGA requirements, and trade compliance changes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in customs brokerage, entry writing, or related freight forwarding role.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and entry processing.
