Position Overview

The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing customs entries for air and ocean import shipments, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company procedures. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about maintaining a smooth flow of goods through customs clearance.

Key Responsibilities
 

• Prepare and file customs entries for import shipments (air & ocean) in accordance with CBP regulations.

• Review commercial documents for accuracy and compliance with U.S. import laws.

• Classify commodities using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).

• Communicate with customs officials, clients, carriers, and internal departments to resolve entry issues or holds.

• Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely clearance and delivery.

• Manage FDA, USDA, and other government agency filings as required.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs documentation.

• Support compliance audits and continuous improvement of import processes.

Requirements
 

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in customs entry writing for a freight forwarder or customs broker.

• Strong understanding of import regulations, HTS classification, and entry documentation.

• Experience handling both air and ocean import shipments.

• Proficient with customs software systems (e.g., CargoWise or similar).

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• High attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred but not required.
