Business Development Manager, Freight Forwarding
Position Summary
Responsible for generating new business opportunities and expanding market share across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and domestic transportation services. This is a hunter-focused sales role that identifies, qualifies, and secures new customers while developing long-term relationships and delivering profitable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Generate new revenue across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, warehousing, and domestic transportation.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline using CRM.
- Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and solution-based sales presentations.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Work closely with pricing and operations teams to deliver competitive logistics solutions.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and activity reports.
- Ensure a smooth transition of new accounts to customer service and operations while maintaining ongoing customer relationships.
Qualifications
- 3+ years' business development experience within international freight forwarding.
- Proven track record of winning new business and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong understanding of Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and supply chain solutions.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as required.
