Altius Talent is partnering with a growing international freight forwarding provider based near JFK, with an established footprint in global air and ocean freight movement and a strong, active volume of import activity across key trade lanes.

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Air Import Specialist to manage the end-to-end air import process, from shipment arrival through customs clearance and final delivery. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven airfreight environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage air import shipments from origin to final delivery
• Prepare and process import documentation, including AWBs, commercial invoices, and customs entries
• Liaise with airlines, customs brokers, overseas agents, and trucking partners to ensure timely cargo release
• Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, or customs holds
• Maintain accurate records within the company's operating system
• Ensure compliance with CBP and airline regulations
• Communicate shipment status updates to clients and internal stakeholders

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in air import operations within freight forwarding
• Working knowledge of AWBs, customs entry processes, and import compliance
• Experience with industry systems such as CargoWise, Magaya, or similar platforms
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating across airlines, brokers, and clients
