Altius Talent is partnering with a well-established international freight forwarder that is investing heavily in strengthening its U.S. air freight capability. As part of this strategic focus, our client is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and develop the Air Freight product function in Los Angeles.
This is a senior leadership role for a commercially minded air freight operator who understands both product excellence and P&L delivery.
The Opportunity
You will take full ownership of the Air Freight product performance across the LAX gateway, driving profitability, service quality and commercial alignment. The role requires strong operational credibility combined with the ability to influence sales and pricing strategy.
This position sits at the intersection of product, operations and commercial performance.
What You Will Be Doing
- Owning the Air Freight product strategy for the LAX gateway
- Managing P&L performance and driving margin improvement
- Leading carrier procurement and airline relationship management
- Optimising buy rates, allocations and capacity planning
- Working closely with sales leadership to support commercial growth
- Overseeing operational performance and service delivery standards
- Building and developing a high-performing air freight team
- Driving process improvement and product consistency
- Providing market intelligence and competitive positioning
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience within international air freight forwarding
- Proven leadership experience at branch, product or gateway level
- Strong airline and carrier relationships at LAX
- Deep understanding of air freight pricing, capacity and routing
- Commercial mindset with clear P&L ownership experience
- Ability to influence both operations and sales functions
- Structured, data-driven approach to performance management
- CargoWise experience strongly preferred
