Air Export and Ocean Import Coordinator
Air Export & Ocean Import Coordinator
Location: New Jersey
Job Type: Full-time
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Air Export & Ocean Import Coordinator to manage the end-to-end logistics lifecycle for our international shipments. In this dual role, you will be responsible for the seamless execution of our outbound air freight operations—including building air consolidations—while simultaneously managing inbound ocean freight shipments from arrival at port through final delivery. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of both air and ocean modes, strong carrier relationships, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Air Export Operations (Outbound)
Manage end-to-end international air export files from booking to final delivery.
Plan, optimize, and secure airline bookings, leveraging air consolidations (consols) to select the most cost-effective routing options.
Prepare, verify, and execute all necessary export documentation, including House and Master Air Waybills (HAWB/MAWB), manifests, and export customs declarations.
Coordinate daily with airlines, ground handling agents (GHAs), and warehouse teams to ensure strict airline cutoffs are met.
Maintain strict compliance with international air freight regulations and TSA cargo security protocols (IACSSP).
Ocean Import Operations (Inbound)
Manage inbound ocean import files, tracking both FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments from overseas origins.
Coordinate with overseas agents, steamship lines, and port authorities to monitor Vessel ETA changes and transit performance.
Review, verify, and process import documentation, including Bills of Lading (MBL/HBL), commercial invoices, packing lists, and Arrival Notices.
Collaborate closely with customs brokers to facilitate timely customs clearance and minimize exposure to port demurrage or warehouse detention fees.
Arrange final "last-mile" delivery by dispatching drayage truckers and domestic LTL/FTL carriers for cargo pick-up from Container Freight Stations (CFS) or marine terminals.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in global freight forwarding, explicitly handling both Air Export and Ocean Import operations.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of international shipping terminology, Incoterms, TSA regulations, and U.S. Customs import procedures.
Technical Skills: Proficiency utilizing specialized freight forwarding/TMS software (e.g., CargoWise, CargoSprint, or equivalent ERP systems).
Problem Solving: Proven ability to multitask in a high-volume environment, pivoting quickly between time-sensitive air export deadlines and long-transit ocean import tracking.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to manage relationships with global clients, carriers, and agents.
