We are seeking an experienced Air & Ocean Import Coordinator to join a high-volume international freight forwarding and express air logistics operation at their busy New York hub. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end import workflows across both air and ocean shipments, with a strong emphasis on time-critical express air freight. The role requires sharp operational instincts, hands-on coordination across global trade lanes, and a client-focused approach within a fast-paced forwarding environment.

What You'll Handle
- Coordinate full import lifecycle for both express air and ocean freight shipments — from booking confirmation through final delivery, ensuring all milestones are met and documented.
- Process airway bills, bills of lading, arrival notices, and import documentation with accuracy and urgency, particularly for time-sensitive express air cargo.
- Liaise with airlines, steamship lines, trucking partners, and overseas agents to secure timely cargo release and delivery.
- Communicate proactively with clients on shipment status, exceptions, and resolutions — serving as the primary operational point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Coordinate customs clearance with in-house or broker partners, tracking entries, exam releases, and PGA holds to avoid delays.
- Manage freight billing, carrier invoices, and cost reconciliation in accordance with client tariffs and operational guidelines.
What Matters (Requirements)
- 2+ years of hands-on air import experience within an international freight forwarder; ocean import exposure a strong plus.
- Familiarity with express air freight operations and the urgency standards that come with time-critical cargo.
- Working knowledge of CBP regulations, import documentation requirements, and basic customs clearance processes.
- Proficiency in freight forwarding TMS/OMS platforms (CargoWise experience highly preferred).
- Strong communicator — able to manage multiple open shipments simultaneously while keeping clients informed and calm under pressure.
