The Role
The Charlotte office is seeking an experienced Air & Ocean Export Specialist to manage end-to-end export operations across both air and ocean modes. This is a hands-on operational role within a collaborative team that takes pride in responsive, personalised service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage air export shipments including booking, documentation (AWBs, EEI/AES filings, SLIs), and airline communication
- Handle ocean export operations including FCL and LCL bookings, BL issuance, VGM filings, and carrier coordination
- Prepare and review all export documentation ensuring compliance with U.S. export regulations (EAR/ITAR awareness a plus)
- Communicate directly with shipper clients, providing shipment updates and proactive exception management
- Liaise with trucking, warehouse, and overseas agent partners to ensure seamless cargo movement
- Track shipments and provide timely status updates through internal systems
- Support customer onboarding and rate quoting as needed
- Ensure compliance with TSA, CBP, and carrier regulations
Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on air and/or ocean export experience within a freight forwarding or NVOCC environment
- Working knowledge of AES/EEI filing and U.S. export compliance requirements
- Familiarity with industry systems (CargoWise, Magaya, or similar TMS preferred)
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, documentation flows, and carrier/airline relationships
- Excellent communication skills — this company operates on real people, real solutions; no automated handoffs
- Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing a high-volume shipment desk
- Experience with both domestic and international trade lanes a plus
