Position Summary:
Altius Talent is seeking an experienced Ocean Export Operator on behalf of our client in Miami. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of ocean export shipments — from booking through final delivery — ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a high standard of customer service throughout.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end FCL and LCL ocean export shipments across key trade lanes
- Coordinate bookings with ocean carriers and NVOCCs, securing space and confirming vessel schedules
- Prepare and process all export documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
- File AES submissions accurately and in compliance with U.S. export regulations
- Liaise with carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and clients to ensure smooth, on-time execution
- Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers
- Manage VGM filings, SI cut-offs, and documentation deadlines
- Resolve shipment exceptions, delays, and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records within the company's TMS/operating system
- Support rate quoting and booking confirmation processes as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of ocean export experience within a freight forwarder or NVOCC environment
- Strong knowledge of ocean export documentation, Incoterms, and U.S. export compliance
- Hands-on experience with AES filings
- Familiarity with carrier booking portals (e.g. Inttra, GT Nexus, or direct carrier platforms)
- Experience with logistics operating systems (CargoWise, Magaya, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling Latin American or European trade lanes
- Familiarity with NVOCC operations and tariff filing requirements
- Knowledge of Break Bulk or project cargo (a plus)
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred given the Miami market
