Import Specialist – Charlotte, NC

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Import Specialist to manage full-spectrum import operations—from A to Z—on behalf of one of our key customers. This is a highly visible, client-facing role requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
What You’ll Do
- Handle end-to-end import operations: documentation, customs clearance, compliance, carrier coordination, tracking, and delivery
- Serve as the main point of contact for the customer—building relationships, managing expectations, and providing proactive updates
- Collaborate with carriers, customs brokers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless movement of goods
- Identify and resolve issues, delays, or discrepancies, maintaining client trust and satisfaction
- Analyze performance metrics (cost, transit times, service KPIs); drive continuous improvement and cost efficiency
- Support operational growth by contributing to process enhancements and best practices
Who You Are
- 2–5 years of import logistics or freight forwarding experience—especially full operational ownership
- Strong knowledge of import regulations, documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, ISF, etc.), customs clearance
- Excellent communication skills; you thrive in a client-facing, relationship-driven role
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to pivot with shifting priorities
- Proficiency in shipment tracking systems and MS Office (Excel a plus)
