Summary:
The Import Manager will oversee the Freight Forwarding import operations department. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Freight Forwarding Import Operations and will be responsible for the direction and performance of the import operations team. Working closely with the Branch Manager, the Import Manager will drive business objectives, manage staff, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, contributing positively to the team's success.

- Perform tasks safely and maintain housekeeping requirements

- Successfully lead the Freight Forwarding import operations team
- Support day-to-day import operations as required
- Train and develop the import operations team
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for import operations
- Review weekly Accounts Receivable Reports and communicate status to the Branch Manager
- Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for shipments, considering cost, transit time, and security
- Negotiate contracts, transportation, and handling costs
- Obtain, check, and prepare all transportation documentation to meet Customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with regulations
- Liaise with third parties to move goods (by road, rail, air, or sea) according to customer requirements
- Arrange air transport for urgent or high-value freight and manage risk door-to-door
- Coordinate with US Customs Brokerage to ensure efficient import procedures
- Arrange courier and specialist hand-carry services
- Collaborate with customers, colleagues, and third parties to meet operational deadlines
- Maintain communication and control throughout all phases of shipments, producing management reports and statistics
- Stay updated on relevant legislation and factors affecting the movement of freight
- Manage multiple customers across the globe, coordinating shipments between carriers and transportation modes
- Knowledge of state, federal, and international laws and regulations related to Customs, security, and import/export government agencies
- Perform duties onsite at the designated work facility
