Country Manager – USA
? Houston, TX | Full-Time | Onsite Only
About the Company
A privately held, Europe-based international freight forwarder with over a century of legacy in integrated logistics and global transport is expanding its U.S. footprint. With a stronghold in air and ocean freight, customs brokerage, and project logistics, the business is now seeking a high-caliber Country Manager to lead and grow the U.S. entity from its Houston HQ.
Position Overview
The Country Manager will have full commercial and operational responsibility across the U.S. market, overseeing P&L, sales strategy, compliance, and branch performance. This is not a role for a figurehead — it’s for a strategic executor ready to scale a mid-sized U.S. operation with European roots and global backing.
Key Responsibilities
-
Own and drive the full U.S. P&L across all branches (air, ocean, customs, projects)
-
Lead regional sales strategy: define vertical priorities, close high-value accounts, expand trade lane penetration
-
Manage branch-level operations in alignment with global SOPs and carrier/vendor contracts
-
Direct and scale national teams: hiring, development, and leadership of commercial and operational staff
-
Ensure U.S. compliance with FMC, TSA, CBP, and all global trade regulations
-
Act as U.S. representative with overseas HQ and key international agents
-
Execute M&A or greenfield strategies as part of long-term U.S. expansion
-
Report directly to European executive board
What We're Looking For
-
Proven success in a Country Manager, Regional Director, or P&L-owning Branch Manager role
-
10+ years in international freight forwarding (air and ocean mandatory)
-
Commercially minded with a deep operational backbone
-
Existing leadership over cross-functional freight teams (sales, ops, customs, finance)
-
Strong carrier, vendor, and global agent relationships
-
Prior experience with European logistics companies a strong advantage
-
Ability to drive process improvement, growth, and profitability across geographies
-
Hands-on leader with a builder mentality — not just a delegator
